2022 Camry vs Accord Comparison

Without a doubt, both the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are two of the most respected and well-known cars to date. Each vehicle came about when petroleum costs reached record-breaking heights in the 1970s, which caused a global oil crisis. Consumers surely felt the burn baby burn and need to move away from gas-guzzling vehicles that dominated roads during this time. As a result, the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord were created!

At Don McGill Toyota in Houston, our inventory includes a wide range of Toyota Camrys for sale, as well as other amazing vehicles. And even though we’re confident, we understand that the decision to choose between a Toyota Camry and Honda Accord can be difficult.

In this blog, we’ll cover some of the most important factors to help you make the best decision possible. Feel free to continue reading along!

Toyota Camry Vs. Honda Accord: Performance and Efficiency

Although at one point gas prices were nothing out of the ordinary, these days, we’re living in what seems to be another global oil crisis. Fluctuations in gas prices and anxiety at the pump are at an all-time high, so efficiency is on many people’s minds. However, you generally don’t want to sacrifice power, particularly when going up an incline or through heavy traffic on a highway in Texas.

Two turbocharged four-cylinder engines, a 1.5-liter or a 2.0-liter, are available for the Accord. The first one produces 192 horsepower and achieves fuel economy ratings of 30 mpg in urban areas and 38 mpg on freeways. The second one, in contrast, has a maximum power output of 252 horsepower and achieves fuel economy ratings of 22 mpg in urban areas and 32 mpg on freeways.

As for the Camry, it’s equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that can produce up to 206 horsepower. Or, there’s a 3.5-liter, 301-horsepower V6 to give drivers a more spirited driving experience in Houston and surrounding areas like Cypress, Spring, Jersey Village, and Humble! So if you’re looking for a new car, the Toyota Camry is a great option!

Honda Accord Vs. Toyota Camry: Technology and Safety

When it comes to the tech department, both cars come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard features. The main difference is Amazon Alexa comes standard on the Camry but not on the Accord. However, the Accord’s touchscreen is better than the Camry because it’s slightly larger, but for an additional cost, the Toyota offers a 9-inch upgrade.

As for driver-assist safety features, both offer a similar lineup: lane-departure and forward-collision warning, lane-trace, lane-keep assist, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, rearview cameras, adaptive cruise control, and traffic-sign recognition. Plus, some additional features can be added, such as Rear-Cross Traffic Alert, Blind-Spot Monitoring, Surround-View Parking Camera System, and Reverse Automatic Emergency Braking!

Toyota Camry Vs. Honda Accord: Interior Space

When looking at interior space, both of these cars can seat up to five passengers and have plenty of space for comfort as well as cargo! But since we’re comparing, the Accord’s 16.7 cubic feet of cargo space is a bit more spacious than the Camry’s 15.1 cubic feet. However, the Camry outdoes the Accord thanks to its pedestrian-detection feature and automatic high-beam headlights!

Which is Better: the Toyota Camry or Honda Accord?

While both the Accord and Camry provide essentially identical basic and lower-trim versions, the key differences between the two vehicles are found in their upper-trim models. In other words, the Camry offers a peppier engine upgrade than the Accord, and it comes with an AWD drivetrain option as well.

As your premier Toyota dealer, we suggest you test drive both vehicles before deciding which team you’re on if you’re still undecided. By doing so, you can get even more of a better feel and understanding of which one is the right match for you!
